CityCollegesofChicago The City Colleges of Chicago is a system of 7 community colleges in the Chicago Area. The colleges include Richard J. Daley College, Kennedy-King College, Malcolm X College, Olive-Harvey College, Harry S. Truman College, Harold Washington College, and the Wilbur Wright College. There are also classes offered through the US Navy Base in the area. The City of Chicago established the City College system on September 11, 1911 as an system of higher learning for the diverse population in the Chicago area. Classes at the college were meant to be available to all through affordable education. The junior college has been a success but not without having problems through the early years with funding through the state. The City Colleges of Chicago also offer distance learning for those that are not able to get to classes on campus. This has been a great help for those that need to work full time and want to further their education at the same time. Students log into their classes to receive assignments and do them when their schedule permits. City Colleges of Chicago - LaGuardia
