Located in the Bronx, New York and being part of the New York City University System is the Hostos Community College, or more properly called the Eugenio María de Hostos Community College of The City University of New York. The Hostos Community College is a 2 year associates degree college that offers college credit transferrs and continuing adult education classes.

Originally established in 1970 the Hostos Community College held classes for it's first students (numbering over 600) in a used tire factory. They moved later to their present location. The Hostos Community College has the distinction of being the only school of higher learning held in the United States that was named after a Puerto Rican, it being named after the educator Eugenio María de Hostos.

The Hostos Community College also offers some online courses through their eSIMS system. These classes help those that are unable to attend classes on campus because of scheduling conflicts or because of other responsibilities. It gives any student the chance to take those classes at home and on their own time.
